SYNOPSIS

"anonymoUS" corresponds to an encounter of two waves of artistic vision that knows the insides of urban centres and the people who live there.
Social criticism is constant in the capital, as shown in the reference to anonymous people who, in the end, constitute the soul of a city. Voices imagined in the manner of an egrégora – as we say, the spiritual force generated from the sum of collective energies – are incorporated into the culture of theatre celebrated outdoors. The initial idea of researching the daily life of the nameless, faceless, was transformed until the team focused on the act and the manifestation in expanded senses.Eight characters from different backgrounds are summoned to a journey where little is known, but which is intuited: the state of presence in all planes of life. The mother, the tree-woman, the dream seller, the sign-man, the popcorn vendor, the worker, the man who is “everybody” and the woman who is “nobody” represent the crowd determined to walk together.
Depending on the stations and rituals, spectators follow the procession for about 100 meters in a straight line. After more than two years of the pandemic, street theatre has made it possible to talk about the resumption of the art of acting or performing as a meeting place. Its metaphors are highlighted through the poetics of the visual installation, of dolls, stilts, inflatable costumes and dance, the last one, a salute to Japanese Butoh.

However, word and song are nail and flesh. Almost all the texts were set to music and a band of instrumentalists transits as much as actresses and actors.
The utopian characters were conceived for a narrative without attachment to reality. From anonymous and invisible beings they have their stories told as allegories. They are different, but they form a collective.

REVIEWS

"'anonymoUS' is a show marked by research and by a deep ode and willingness to risk. A testimony of faith in popular good taste and a great closed door to the values that art critics and trained spectators almost always seek to drag into within the montages they appreciate.(...) Maybe, who knows, an attack program. Almost desperate, in a hurry, with no time to fix the dress or tie in front of the critic's mirror. Almost like the bull in front of the red, dragged by the mood, in this almost abstract conflagration of paths that the street suggests and obliges us, the group shoots against time dozens of arrows without narcissus or vanity.(...) The richness of the show is metaphorized in the fable that organizes it throughout the entire staging: it is time to take care of the future of a still unknown belly. Every birth interests us (day by day lights go out in an empty space and it is necessary to take on the challenge of life). And believe in the future. And go ahead and clap your hands. The echo of this gesture will give us some (unusual and optimistic) direction".

"'anonymoUS' does not point to easy answers, but insists on the need to be able to look ahead. Remember, imagine, give new meaning: there are many Brazils spread across Brazil. In a hundred meters of walking, there are infinite possible territories of dreams, sweat and life . In the end, to recognise one's own identity in the midst of the crowd. To make oneself whole in an existence in Act. To see glimpses of the future in the theatre. It is necessary to hatch the egg of utopia".
